Default does AC waste gas? if so how much?

im poor student who just purchased my s2000 with my own money.. all of it

well im on really tight budget but wondering if AC waste gas? if so how much?

ive never owned a car taht has AC before so i wouldnt know..

Dont think anymore then driving top down. Best way to save gas is not drive. lol

In a study by Car and Drivers a while ago, driving on the freeway with two windows fully opened driving at 75 eats more gas than the same car with all windows closed but A/C fully blasted.

The A/C does increase gas consumption. It's up to you to decide if it is a "waste" or not.

Mythbusters just tested this myth. And these were the exact results they came up with.

I get 30+ mpg with air on towing my 500 lb. autocross trailer. I have to believe like others have said, top down aerodynamics will kill gas mileage more than AC with the top and windows up.

Bottom line is while th AC causes mpg to drop some, its not going to kill your budget any more than buying premium gas already will

Same with dropping yoru top all the time... so for the OP who posted this thread, the S2000 isn't right for you! lol
