I myself put a rather large area magnet on the oil filter itself.

I just ordered a magnetic plug from a site Road Rage turned us onto a little while ago.

I'll go find the link and post...........

Mag Plugs

The bolt is part# 1085M and the gaskets are #2602.

Enjoy,
Hockey

p.s. These are about 1/4 the cost of the Spoon brand.

Yeah, his prices are good and his service is great - they come from Canada with a cute little customs declaration.

Those gaskets are The Bomb - do not overtighten them - they are not crush washers! Just snug them up, and then tighten up a bit more. They can be used over and over, and never leak. Just inspect the rubber insert every once in a while, and when it gets brittle or starts to fragment, time to go to another. I have had one last for years. If you ever find that it loosens on ya, then you are a crush washer person. Use the Honda ones or get pther crush washers from the same site. I got some for my Subaru from them - they did not have the rubber/metal ones, unfortunately.

Be careful - one good bump and that thing could land on the street. I am not sure that the field is strong enough, or concentrated enough to create much field strength through the metal case. I put an 85 pound pull one on the Subaru just for laughs, waiting for my new plug to come.

The whole point of magnetic plugs is not so much to prevent anything in terms of pulling out metal, but to serve as "tattletales" of what is going on inside your engine. If all you are finding is a fine metal sludge, those particles are too small to hurt anything, but jagged ones are a warning that something may be about to fail, or already has and is letting you know.

I also primed and painted mine bright yellow, and baked it in the oven an hour at 200 deg. I tend often to put the plug somewhere I cannot immediately find it, and the bright yellow helps me locate it fast.

No argument from me - it was more of a heads-up, and you obviously have been using your head. But as I said, the maggie drain plugs let you see what is in the sump - the big magnet won't, unless you remove it and let the engine run for a while before you drain and inspect.
