Do slotted and drilled rotors make noise when braking?

I got MasterGrade drilled and slotted rotors with stock pads. When I brake they make noise. I had the pads and rotors checked by a Honda dealer and they passed inspection.
Do the slots and holes make the noise when the pads go over them?

Noise depends on the size of the holes. I found larger holes make more noise. I think the noise is from the little pops of hot gas escaping from under the pads.
