Default Do S2000's have a problem with a/c compressors failing?

I have an '02 with 115K miles. About 5 years ago, the a/c compressor failed. Had it replaced with a rebuilt one, and while it still works, now that one sounds like it has marbles rolling around inside. I know I have high mileage, but I've never had even one compressor on a car fail before, and now it's two--is this a recurring problem with S2000 compressors?

Are you missing the front under tray by any chance?

Definitely not a common issue.

Your replacement compressor was either poorly rebuilt or installed improperly.

When you had it replaced did they replace the condenser and evaporator? They should have also flushed the lines as well. If you don't do that the new one may not last long. Having the proper amount of oil is also very important. That is why the little charge cans are a no no. If you have a recurring refrigerant leak you are also leaking the oil being carried by the refrigerant. Just adding more refrigerant every time deprives the system of lubricant.

^ great point.

Metal leftover from the old compressor will destroy the new one.
