Do our cars burn oil on long trips?

think you guys are misunderstanding the point of my thread. my car does not consume oil on a regular basis, but only on trips of an hour or more. is this something normal or should I look into it? I understand some of you don't lose oil but that's not what I'm asking. just wondering if long trips affect oil consumption?

Most of my mileage is on the highway. I do not burn oil on the highway. I do not burn oil in the city.
