Default Do I NEED To Start It Over The Winter?

It was my intention to start my 2007 over the winter, today being the first try. I knew my battery was low and put a trickle charger on it when I put it away a month ago. Yes, it is the original battery,

Today, I reconnected the battery cable and went to start it. The lights came on, but not enough juice to crank it over. I put the trickle charger on and will try again tomorrow.

So, the question- Do I need to start it monthly as recommended in the manual? If so I need to buy a new battery now.

If not, I will wait until April when I intend to put it back on the road and then buy a new battery.

thanks,

No you don't the dry cold starts are bad for the motor

Do you want to do a lot of them or just a single one in the spring?

if it's bad, why does the manual recommend it?

Isn't it bad for the various seals not to be started?

Start it, but don't just shut it off. Take it for a drive around the block and get everything warmed up.

It's best to drive it when ever possable or don't start it at all. As for trickle chargers they will kill the battery long term. Use a battery Tender. Keeps it at 12 volts at all times. http://batterytender.com/battery-ten...-at-1-25a.html

I dont start my car all winter.

I remove my battery and put it to a battery maintainer.

I got it started up this morning, barely

Letting it run 10-15 minutes then will put the Battery Tender back on and sleep it for another month, according to the manual.
If it hadn't started, I would have let it hibernate until April, but it did.

case closed.
