Do I have to push clutch all the way down if it disengages early?

I have always been told you push all the way.
My question for you is--why is it "uncomfortable" to push all the way? Is it a matter of reach, or is your clutch pedal very hard/stiff/crunchy/or??
The clutch pedal should be very easy to push down, minimal effort, regardless of if you believe in "leg day" at the gym or not.

It's uncomfortable because the clutch release point is all the way at the top, so trying to match rev when shifting is a lot harder than if the clutch release point was in the middle of the pedal travel.

But pushing the clutch in a little further gives your synchros time to work. It also prevents grinding gears when you thought you had it pushed in far enough. My advice would be to get in the habit of pushing it in most of the way each time except when starting your car. Forget that last inch - it doesn't have to go all the way.

It is very uncomfortable to push the clutch all the way to the floor to shift. However I realized that the clutch disengages only 1/4th of the way after the clutch is depressed. Do I still have to push it all the way to the floor even though it disengages early in the pedal travel?
You'll find that if you gently pull the lever into gear, you don't need to have the clutch pedal all the way down, between shifts. Timing the shifts is the easiest on the synchros. If you yank the lever into gear --- you may get a "crunch" noise, even with the pedal all the way down.
You can feel the gears and synchros working, through the lever. If possible, move the thing when you fell the resistance is the least.

While you have enough disengagement to get out of gear, and the synchros work to to synchronize shaft speeds....the driveline may still be engaged slightly and you can wear the synchros. You're better off pushing the clutch all the way in.
You can slightly adjust your clutch pedal freeplay to get the engage/release point where you want it. I would not recommend more than 1/2" of freeplay, though.
