Default Do Any Mods Really Do That Much Good?

As I tinker with my s2k, I recall a "Road and Track" article of about two years ago on the "Mugen S2000", where Mugen had "thrown in the works". SC, Vtec mods, lowering, transmission mods, exhaust mods, you name it, at a cost of about $25000. Does anyone else remember that article? Well, $25000 later, the highly modified s2k got 5 mph more top speed, .4 sec. off and about 2 mph better on the quarter, and .1 sec SLOWER on the 0 - 60 compared to stock! Have we (I hope) learned some things since then, or are we all on a fruitless search for the "Holy Grail"?

Thanks,
Richard

If you're into 1/4 mile and 0-60 times probably not, but if you're into roadcourses then probably a HUGE difference with those mods.

I think we've learned that the car is just fine stock.

Well, I'm no fool, and I think the responses that the car is just fine stock prove it. I was just asking a question after all. No, I'm not into drag racing, but a car's ability to accelerate is important on the track too, isn't it?

Thanks,
Richard

Firstable, Mugen never made a SCd S2000, and Mugen Japan spent more than 50k on their first project S2000, which is called SS2200, it will simply walk away from the stock S2000.

Secondly, Mugen wasnt marking their S2000 as a drag car, they designed it to be a track car, they were focusing on aerodynamic and high speed balance.

Do a search and many will tell you King's S2000 will easily pull on any stock ones.

Stock S2000 handles beautifully in the track, but the right mods will definately enhanced the performance of the car. Of course, for those who never took their cars to the track, it wouldnt be any sinificant difference at all

even a simple mod like the Spoon x brace will make a great difference in cornering.
