Do aftermarket grills present a threat to proper radiator cooling?

Trust me, I know what I am talking about in this matter. I studied the effects of grilles on air movement when I was analysing ESL's - electrostatic loudspeakers. The speakers run on +/- 7kV AC with enough current to make you a very dead person were you to touch the anodes/cathodes- you don't fool around with that technology by being stupid.

Here's my solution to the air flow into the intake question (I removed the middle section grille piece so it's a completely open entrance....not how it looks in the pics) but having the entire grille in place DOES effect air flow into the radiator, you can bet yer butt. I took the grille to work last summer and turned an industrial fan on full speed....high enough to literally force
your body backwards. When I placed the grille in front of my face, it was as if the fan had been turned down several notches. People standing by wondering, "what the hell is Russ doing now?" came over and were shocked. They couldn't believe the difference between "grille in front of face" and "grille not in front of face." Not the most scientific method, but clearly an indicator that radiator protection does not come without its sacrifice.
I'm losing mine this summer and mounting the Weapon R ducting to the original grille.
I'll hose off the bugs but down here in Miami, you CAN tell the difference between no grille and A grille.
