lol no I'm pretty sure it was built in Tochigi Japan.
Engine has been spinning for almost 40k miles now so if there was something seriously wrong I'm guessing it would have showed by now.

Well... the engine runs fine. Proof in the pudding. Wonder if someone at the factory might know about this. You may have a very, very rare bird there.

What about DBW 06-09 non-US (F20C) cars? Any evidence they're affected as well?
Might be useful for some: yesterday I set valve clearance for the first time in the car's life on my 2006 DBW F20C (not F22C, Europe!), 80k miles.

Exhaust was mostly 0.011, a couple valves were almost 0.012 so I closed the gap a little bit. Intake was predominantly 0.010, adjusted to 0.009. No single valve was tighter than specs.

Flanders, your cam sprockets are on the wrong cams, so the marks are wrong. The gear with the circle line is the exhaust gear.

It is very possible that your engine has been running 1-3 degrees out of cam timing for many years.

There should be some power gain to be had be be righting their positions

I will check on this today on some loose gears. Stay tuned.

Wow I can't believe I didn't notice that circle before, thanks so much for that information Billman!
Please update with any more findings you make.
How much work is it the swap those gears by the way? I'm booked in for dyno tuning next weekend

Remove cams, swap gears, reinstall. You won't even need to adjust the valves.

I just stacked the two gears on top of each other with a common woodruff key.

Both your cams are currently out of time about 1/3 of a tooth, which is about 2.6 degrees.

Billman, is there a way to tell if the cams, themselves, are reversed or not? That is, the cam gears on are the correct cams, but the intake and exhaust cams are reversed?

Or it that even possible?

The cams themselves are marked IN and EX. Based on lobe profile and positioning I don't think the engine can run if the cams were reversed.
