The DIY Oil Change
#61
It takes about 20 minutes max to change your oil. Better than sitting around a dealership for hours. Also consider that oil changes usually are assigned to the least qualified tech. For $25, they are probably using the cheapest oil as well.

88 bucks for oil change. 60 bucks for my redline ful synth oil. 20 bucks (14 with discount) for my oil filter.
Its easier to get the oil change bolt from the TOP of the engine...if your car is dropped and you cant get a jack under there. its very possible and doable. just a fyi!

You don't have to but if you don't have a good feel for proper tightening it's recommended (don't under or over tighten). Good luck getting a torque wrench on the fill cap.

okay i just got a clicker torque wrench and i dont know how to use it help please
most of them arent reversible so you just hand tighten the bolt and then use the torque wrench to finish it off. the wrench will automatically click when the torque specis met and will not go any tighter, tada

turn the dial at the bottom to the number you want. make sure you are reading ft pounds. the bottom handle twists.
