Default diy lower seat mod...fail? maybe im just too fat...

So i am 6'1" and and pushing 300lbs... i got around to finally doing the diy stock seat lowering mod.

I know its done right since i now have a gap between the top half and ass cushion. I have more thigh space which is excellent. But my butt simply didnt drop down. I also cut away the entire foam section from the "dimple" since its something i only wanted to do once and be done, the lower the better Since i do track the car several time a year.

That said am i actually just too fat to drop down inbetween the thigh bolsters. Any other big dudes attempt the mod And have the same issue?

I have a set of nrg seats i fit in fine and i ordered up some bc low downs but i sit at stock height with everything on its lowest settings. I can remove cusions and get a bit lower, but i also have to remove interior trim so the sholder wing fits.

I dont have a problem swapping in the nrg come raceday but was hoping to make the daily a bit more comfy... bummed.

Here is from the last track day before the mod and then a pic in my driveway just now to show that i didnt drop down

any useful recomendations besides stop eating?

Not sure if you're really too big for your seat but I'm 6'2 and I pass with a little more to give. Same setup as you. BC super low down with f1 spec type 5 cushion removed. Practically sitting on the floor.

...in the snow, top down. Wondering what the neighbors thought.

Try this test: remove the bottom seat base altogether, install seat (so its seatback only, plus rails), and repeat helmeted seat test, with broomstick, and see if you pass, and by how much.

If you do not pass, you are going to need to go with the taller rollbars. Now you know for sure there is no other way.

If you do pass, then how many inches you pass by (broomstick clearance - 2 inches), that is how far off the floor max you can get away with. Now you can shop for seats your butt fits in, and know if it will be low enough in the car.

thew BYS low mount rail gained me about 1.5 in of head clearance.

do you have a factory alarm on the car? those electronics sit under the driver seat.
