DIY: HID Bulb Replacement Guide
#11
The last pic on the install guide has sort of an "after pic" shown with 6000k 35w HID bulbs. If you still have stock bulbs, compare them to your set up. I'll tell you that the 6000k set up has a blue tint to it. I kinda want to go with a 5000k bulb now, 6000k is a bit too blue for my taste.

Good write-up, bookmarked the thread in case I need to do this in the future. And just my two cents, I think I would better to test the lights before putting the fender liners back on. so if either side is not working, you don't have to remove liner again

No offense intended, but it's a shame that you've screwed up your headlight beam pattern so bad. The S2000 is known to have the best low beam pattern pretty much ever produced in a road car. The alignment of the bulb in its socket is critical to a millimeter to maintain the proper beam pattern. Only very high quality replacement bulbs will replicate the beam pattern properly.
Look at the picture below and see how even and full the beam pattern is. Now, look at yours and see how it's full of hot spots and dark areas. This picture is from Modify's website. His cutoff isn't perfect, probably because the outer lens is dirty. Here's the link to his original.

Here's a link to another image of what the beam pattern should look like.

My assumptions are from the pic of his rims.

Changed out my bulbs a couple months back and lived to tell about it. It's perfectly safe as described.
If you're really worried about it, turn the lights on after disconnecting the battery (to discharge any residual voltage in the system).
If you're REALLY worried, keep your left hand in your pocket.

Thanks for the reassurance. Appreciate your response.
You lived to tell about it and I like both suggestions. Try to drain residual charge from bulbs and especially to use the one handed approach for safety's sake. lol
