DIY front rattling latch trim
The plastic trim on my MY00 rattled on bumpy roads. This is plastic so it can't be bent or altered easily without breaking. Hope this helps someone. Works for both soft top or hardtop.
Tools:
Laminated (or not) business card
Scissors
Flat head
Common sense
Ok so here's what I was referring to
My solution. Just cut the card into fourths, trim off any excess depending on the card itself, and jam it into the gap. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.
No more rattle! No damage! AND replaceable!
Enjoy your quieter convertible

Nice fix.
You can also jam small bits of thin foam pad in there too like some of the other threads, I chopped up one of those foam tire applicator pads that you use to apply tire gel / protectant onto the sidewalls of the tires.
I'd also recommend putting a large square chunk of foam pad inside the clamshell part, so it puts pressure on the top of the latch when it is closed and it won't rattle on the interior bar, it works wonders and I also used parts of a tire gel applicator pad for that.

If you jam a thick piece of foam in there the foam will put constant pressure on the folding half of the latch when it is closed and keep it from moving up and down. The trick is to have the foam nice and dense, so when the latch closes the foam puts outward pressure on the top portion of the latch.
See the greem foam in the pic below, the denser and thicker the foam the better, I also put a small bit of grease on the inner bar which the latch clamps onto to keep it as quiet as possible:

You're welcome guys! Gla I could contribute back to this forum
And yeah I see what you mean now. I have a piece of foam on the OUTSIDE of the latch to prevent that kind of rattle. Might be able to see it in the first pic. But I should change it to this when i decide to "headliner" my hardtop.
