DIY Fluid Changing
Since the weather was 72 yesterday ... just a few miles south east of DC, I decided to get my "S" road ready ..... There is some good stuff in the post listed on fluid changes ....HERE , however...... a few tidbits I learned yesterday .....
1) Get a Gear Oil Pump .... They sell for about $8.50 at Advanced Auto Parts ..... their part number is W1139. It sure beats squeezing a 1 qt bottle of differiential oil ...
2) I tried the "gravity bleed" for my brake and clutch fluid. Initially it appeared that all was well. However, I own a MY 04 and have never changed the fluid. So after almost 5 years now I had some junk floating in my resoviors and lines, preventing gravity from doing its thing..... I ended up getting my neighbor to pump the pedals for both the brakes and clutch.
3) I changed out the cabin filter using the"cleaned up" one from last year. (I have 2 filters .. one I clean and then dry out .. and I installed the one I cleaned and dried out last year .....)
4) I cleaned and oiled my K&N filter - no issues here .....
5) Will do the tranny as soon as I get my 2 quarts of Honda Tranny fluid.
Since I had my hands dirty .. I also changed the differiential fluid and transfer gear box oil in my 4Runner ...... Did I mention that PUMP thing? What a great invention ....
