Default DIY Exhaust

Hey guys, I have just started college and since I am a freshman and pledging a fraternity I don't have time for a job, so I was thinking about cheap things that I could possibly learn to do to modify my car and a DIY exhaust came to mind. I am just seeking advice as to whether I should even attempt this, and what the key components are that make a good exhaust. I have not had any experience with welding or fabricating anything, but I am very interested in learning and as the semester progresses I should be learning about welding and fabricating parts from the FSAE team that I am a part of.

I've built a few exhausts for different cars and if you don't have any experience with fabrication the first one will be a challenge. Not to discourage you or anything, but the right tools and practice with getting stuff to fit right on the first time will go a long way towards an exhaust you're happy with. Don't expect to throw something together with a hack saw and muffler clamps.

Here are some good pointers.

Thanks man! These sources are very very helpful! I understand that this will be very difficult to do, but I am hoping to receive training soon on how to weld and fabricate which will somewhat ease the process. I wouldn't be surprised if I end up having to start over though. It'll be a great learning experience and an opportunity to make something of my own and save some money.
