[QUOTE=litre-eater,May 12 2008, 12:13 PM] if he lowered the subframe (don't know how else he could have done it) then the alignment will be off.

With six big bolts holding the subframe it has very little varience. I have done several and have never needed an alignment, and Honda has done many and does not recommend an alignment as part of the service. Odds are all the OP needs is alignment on the shaft (both bolts on the coupler need to be loose to get it right).
the u-joint coupler are splined, they can only go in one way.
i only removed one end completely, towards the rack.
i put it in one way, the steering is off to the right. i move one notch over, the steering is a little to the left.
even with six bolts, all of the hole are bigger than the bolt. i think there's enough play there to effect alignment, not toe but will shift camber. i'll just have to get it realign and verify this.

i took it to a local jr college with the car stand and still had problems. That tranny weights a ton. Remember to remove that fork, and dont take any short cuts. Either you lower the sub frame to take the tranny out, the whole motor. The tranny fits perfectly on the spot. Good luck.
