and the 06 exhaust has an oval/square monkey bar hanging out the side instead of the usual round pipe

Thanks for the info guys...ummm...yeah...that's not gonna fit in my place...

now i gotta decide whether to keep the fiancee or the stock exhaust...cuz one won't be there if the other is...

What is the purpose of that 90"degree metal thing attached/welded just before the resonator?

It's a Helmholtz resonator, designed to produce a more pleasing exhaust note.
