Mr. Road Rage, sir, I believe crank pressure is the pressure in the cylinder head. It is simply a measurement of the pressure created from the VTEC crankshafts as they open and close the valves. That's why the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) comes out of the rocker cover. It is routed into the intake manifold for a supercharging effect.

Thank you for all your responses.

It seems that after cleaning the O rings, and the seat...it seems to have fixed the issue. If it persists, or comes back, I will do a compression test.

BTW...my car pulls VERY strong for a stock S2K. I have pulled multiple 350Z's, put car lengths on WRX's, put a car and half on an E36 M3 with intake, exhaust, ECU upgrade, and also an EVO with boost controller pushing 20psi.

I have been very happy with my S2K, coming from a 1.8T GTI with 220whp and 240ftlbs.

Anyways...one other thing, I will prolly be dyno'ing the S in a couple of weeks, just to get an idea.

Thanks again!

what is crank pressure? I know what oil pressure is, but crank pressure? And when you find the oil dipstick, find where is the crank dipstick is too, Alexf20C.
It's the depression of the air in the crank case.

In the 'olden days' this pressure was positive and it simply blew out of the engine somewhere, but since crank case gasous waste into the enviroment is not allowed anymore (very harmful emissions) the engine is designed to have a depression at all times. Hence all the tubes redirected to the inlet manifold (to create depression in the engine block, underneath the pistons and in the valve train area).

There shouldn't be any positive or negative pressure in the crank case on a stock S2000. The PCV simply allows the gases in the crank case to be sucked into the intake manifold when there is vacuum in the manifold. The front of the valve cover is vented without restriction to the air filter box.

A friend of mine has this dipstick popping out issue.

He cleaned the dipstick carefully and no change.

I took my dipstick, put it in his engine and mine snapped down into position way tighter that his.

He told the dealer and they ordered him a new one.

Dear alexf20c and gernby,

Please resume talking to me when you have at least 1% of the experience that I have with emission testing...
