I'm trying to find out if my differential is really broken. I am almost sure it is. Here is what happened. I reved my car up to around 5k rpm, dumped the clutch, heard a pop, no longer was moving even though I was in 1st gear gassing it. Put it in neutral and costed a few feet. As I was towing my car home there was a knocking sound when I would turn left. A few months back I had installed a 6 puck racing clutch, and knew that eventually my diff would break, and id upgrade it when it happened. But when I took the diff off, everything looked normal. When I rotated the propeller shaft with my hand both axels would move. I expected that I would turn the propeller shaft and the pinion would not be contacting the ring gear and neither wheel would spin. So I found this odd. Does it appear my diff is broken even though there is no obvious broken or miss aligned gears? The housing was also in tact as far as I could tell. There is however some slight scratching in the inner part of the teeth on the ring gear.
