Can you overfill the differential? I thought if you tried to put too much it will just overflow?

Yes, you can put more fluid into the diff than what is in the specs. If you jack up the car from the left side, you can get the whole bottle in. As for it being "overfilled", since the diff has a breather in it, I'm not sure that "overfilling" is a bad thing. It's not like crankcase oil where you have crank parts slamming into the oil and foaming it.
