not absolutly necessary. I usually change the washers every other change.

Let me tell you something.....my experience is Honda's service manual recommendations have been right on. And I've been driving, servicing Hondas since before you were born....both 2 and 4 wheeled versions. Take heed of their recommendations...you don't need the grief. When they say replace...you should. Then again, you could just crawl up under the car every trip for that peace of mind.

Remember....the clutch hoses aren't any different between an AP1 or AP2 either, right?

btw. the clutch slave that houses the cdv has no cable, it's a hydraulic hose and theyrea direct swap from ap1 to ap2. there is no "cable to replace"

Cable...who said anything about a cable? On the hose the angle where the fitting attaches to the slave is different between AP1 vs. AP2. There's prob enuf give there to twist it to a correct position. But the hoses themselves are NOT a direct swap between AP1, AP2...other end of hose where attaches to the clutch pipe is entirely 180 degress different mounting position as well and the clutch hose bracket.

So sorry ....I guess I'm a little more particular with the servicing of my vehicles. If you like shooting from the hip, ignoring mfg recommendations and you are good with that ...that's cool. But you are making recommendations up here on the forum to folks that may not know much about actually servicing their car. It would probably be prudent to say something like ..."Honda recommends replacing the sealing washer but I have been a lucky SOB and used mine over without leaks....YMMV".

Seriously it doesn't make sense to risk not replacing and not reusing any sealing washers. There are also certain fastners used in our cars that due to their unique design characteristics, should not be used but once. Then again, I personally don't know more than the folks that designed and built the car.
