I wouldn't. I would heat a quart of 90wt in some hot water before you put it in if you're looking to just flush the diff.

Heat up? What temperature do you recommend? Just put the quart bottle in a pot of boiling water and take out?

I probably won't rinse it. Just replace it twice (one week interval each). What do you guys think?

Boiling would work...But it really doesn't have to be that hot.

Hey Neutered Sputniks, do you think my idea of just replacing the thing twice is a sane one? I don't think rinsing will help much since some of the crud are probably stuck in crevices within the gear and will only loosen after a few drives.

90wt doesnt thicken or thin out....heating it is useless....thus its not a multi viscosity oil

Interesting. So what I will do is replace my diff fluid sometime this week and once more next week. I don't think I got too much crap on there but I'm anal about my car.

By the way, is the differential housing aluminum? Just wanted to know how strong it is as I am afraid of stripping the threads.

its aluminum.

id personally just buy a quart or two of crappy cheep 90 wt, use that to flush the diff and then put in good stuff. i would keep the car on jackstands and just rotate the wheels by hand to turn the diff over a few times and then drain and refill.

thats just my opinion
