Default Differential

Ok. So I'm doing all my fluid changes today, and well, my stupid siphon pump crapped on me and spilled oil all over the place. The thing is my garage isn't the cleanest in the world as it is not a covered garage (dirt, sand, and other debris are all over the place). So anyway, I'm sure the pump had sucked some of that crap and transferred it to my differential. Will I be damaging the differential if the oil in there is not super clean since there is no such thing as a "differential oil filter". Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't either but I'm just saying that it probably picked some of the crap up. I didn't do it intentionally.

I wouldn't sweat it for TO long, but as soon as you have time to change it again I would. I havent changed the rear diff fluid in my S2K yet so I dunno if it has a magnetic drain plug. But when I changed it in my Evo I swear the magnetic plug was twice as big as it shoulda been from all the shavings that were on it, lol.

There is a magnet on the Diff drain plug...but it will be of no use if your dealing with rocks...

Drain and Refill brother. You know every time you hit the gas you're going to worry about it!!!

Yeah, I guess I will do that when I have the next chance to. I will try to drive it as less I can (don't have much of a choice as it is my daily). I have to order the Alamsol stuff online, anyone know if any chain stores carry it? I am in Southern California by the way.

Hit up your local auto parts shop. Any GL-5 or GL-6 90 weight is going to be better than dirt in the diff. Trust me. It's better to run clean, lower quality oil until you get the good stuff then it is to run dirty good stuff.

just grab some cheap shit gl-5 stuff and then run it for a bit, then flush out with what you want to put in there. just take your time next time. no need to rush things you care about.
