difference between ap1 o2 sensor and ap2?

The AP2 connector shells are different colors and they may be different male/female as well. Not all primary sensors use the same side of a 4 pins connector shell, so you can't install them in the wrong place.
When in doubt, get the correct sensor for the year car you have.

I had one go bad a couple of months ago on my AP2. It put a big hurting on my gas milage. I got somewhere around 16 mpg, with minimal VTEC. I would get it fixed pretty soon. Mine was still under warrenty but it won't take long for the added gas price to offset the O2 sensor cost. Here is the part # they put on mine

all o2 r same.. u can even pull o2 from civic & stick it into s2k...
