Default DIFF, Supercharger, Clutch.. ADVICE NEEDED!

Hey Guys this is my first post,
so stick with me
i new to s2ks Ive only had mine roughly 3 months,
so i bought a white ap1 2001 s2000
the previous owner had put a comptec stage 4 clutch in the car...
which is the route all of evil.
my diff has now snapped... my syncros on 1st and second are wearing down quickly... need replacing...
and i need a new clutch!
now that leads me to the supercharger!
considering my car is off the road for atleast a month while the diff gets re built
i figured what better time than the present to supercharge.
so im looking at two options for the diff

Option one.
New Hardened Diff with 4.44 From a company called Neat Gearboxes... ive heard great things about their diffs

Option Two.
Full conversion to a r33 Diff this option i know nothing about... open to advice...

the clutch
Option one.... rip out the comptec and light it on fire.
install a new clutchmasters FX350 cluch kit,

or.. the clutch you lot suggest, what are you running? NO POCKET CLUTCHES... i dont want any more snapped f@#king diffs...

SUPERCHARGER
Alright lets get down to the fun part

SOS Stage 2 Non-SL supercharger.
With the 1200 blower and the bigger Heat Exchange
thats what im strongly leaning towards, using a hondadata ECU
hoping to get 400whp

have looked at the vortec one.. it doesnt seem to get as much power.

so.. just hoping to get some feedback..
becuase as i said... im new to this

You can break a diff with the stock clutch. The first word of that sentence was "you".

You broke the diff and wore the synchros. Not the clutch. Launching the car with a good amount of power will result in broken diffs. Not shifting properly will result in worn synchros.

I'm also guessing the clutch is improperly adjusted by whomever installed or adjusted it. Seems like a lot of people don't understand how a puck clutch is supposed to feel...so they adjust the pedal's engagement point down.

I would suggest a stock replacement good condition AP2 diff. I wouldn't do a 4.44 with a supercharger. An R200 is overkill.

Just drive better/more gently. Technique goes a long way. There's people who have been supercharged for a LOOONG time that haven't broken diffs or synchros.

Swap the clutch for something more sensible. That comp stage 4 clutch isn't a street clutch. SOS seems to make a nice clutch. Or an ACT pressure plate and genuine Honda disk/bearings is a good combo. Any heavy duty clutch pressure plate should be paired with a clutch bypass switch to start the car...and you should only press the clutch when it is needed to shift (don't hold it down for any longer than you need to).

Puddy mod diff is all you need for 400HP

https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/558...able-products/

If you put 4.4 in it first and second become useless with 400HP.

Leave the 4.1 or even go the other way 3.9 but that is open to debate.

Even supercharged our cars do not put out that much TQ. Unless you building a drag car OEM friction disk with ACT heavy duty PP is all you need. It does not slip and is driver friendly.

Lastly Welcome to S2Ki! The built in search engine sucks, use Google, add s2ki to the search string and you can find anything.

the only thing I would add to this is that the slave cylinder should be replaced with one from an AP2, it sounds like your very harsh driver. the Ap2 slave cylinder has a clutch delay valve making the clutch slip between gears at high RPM. I call it the diff saver.

Good luck!

(Used) diffs cost less than clutches. They are also easier to replace. Granted....it depends on how many diffs you blow up. But driving with more restraint is free. The problem with a CDV is that it forces the clutch to slip on even moderately quick shifts.

OP could benefit a lot from just using his feet for good rather than evil. Seems like he's launching often and slamming gears. Why?

I agree with ^^^

Only thing different I would say would be to try out the clutchmasters Fx300 clutch. I love mine.

I may be in the minority, but I've had my SOS for quite a few years, and have almost 100K, and I'm still on the original OEM clutch and my diff's fine.

If you're trying to launch this car with the fervor that you have been, you're going to be replacing parts a lot.

As to the diff, puddy. It's S2K specific.
