1. why? that's like your motor blowing up at 20K b/c you never changed the engine oil. do you think they should cover that??? NO!!!!!

2. it should probably last longer - providing it has been "maintained" per the owners manual.

if the prescribed maintenance (for a specific part or system of the car) has not been carried out, it is considered neglect.........and the part (or parts) would not be subject to warranty replacement.
