Default Diff oil

I changed my diff oil on the weekend and realised that the oil that i chose might not be ok?

I bought Castrol SAF-XA full synthetic oil which is 80W/140 specs.

http://www.castrol.com/liveassets/bp_inter...XA_B1769_04.doc

The castrol product catelogue recommended the Castrol LMX90 for the s2000.

I have attached links. Would anyone be able to tell me that this is ok to run. If not, i guess ill have to drain it and buy the other stuff.

Your diff only holds about 900 cc of oil.
That oil is working hard.
In the climate you're in a 80W-140 is perfectly fine.
It won't thin-out like the common 75W-90 oils at higer temps.
The Castrol LSX is probably dino, by the looking at the pourpoint.
A single grade but kinda thin at only 17.8 cSt @ 100C.

No worries, keep the 80W-140 in there.
(using a single grade (Amsoil) SAE 190 myself - in a 4.57 diff)

our diffs require 75W90 gear oil... I recommend LE1605 from Hardtopguy.com http://hardtopguy.com/store/product.php?pr...2&cat=56&page=1

"Official" diff oil is single grade SAE 90 GL-5.
Check your Honda owners manual to confirm

This SAE 90 was printed in a time where SAE 90 was a wide range, up to what we now call SAE 110.
LE-1605 is SAE 110.

The Castrol 80W-140 is fine in the S2k diff.
