Default Diff nightmare ?

I currently have an 03 s2000 with a turbo set up pushing a lil over 400 rwhp.I am also running a 19 X 10.5 rear rim/tire.I ve never ever launched the car or done clutch dumps.I just shift fast and hard when I race.

I am getting a loud clunking noise coming from the rear of the car when making turns and being in neutral. You wont hear the clunking noise if I am in gear. Now heres the catch.I dont wanna spend money on another stock diff, and as so many of you know there hasnt been a solution to this differential issue. So Does ANYBODY have a solution on having an high hp s2000 and not breaking diffs or should I just GET A NEW CAR. M3, g35, z06, etc thnks in advance

Nissan 240SX diff(that model anyway). I too am getting the clunks, so Im hoping to have a conversion kit ready before spring. It will be much more $ than a new 04 stock diff though...

I would imagine 19x10.5 wheels/tires put quite a bit of xtra strain on the diff and rear axles, which is magnified under FI.

Yeah, others have successfully put in a 240SX or 300ZX NA diff (same diff) into the s2k. Look into that route. Once someone makes a conversion kit that can be reproduced at a reasonable price, this will be a popular upgrade for many s2k'ers. But then again, if power is all you want and you have the money, the C6 Z06 is a monster and can easily go beyond it's stock 500bhp considering it's a 7.0L V8!

Yea I need to do more home work on that nissan diff, I mean I d hate to get rid of my car only cause I have spent so much money on it already but then again if its gonna be a headache I rather sell it.But yea bigpurp the 19 x 10.5 in the rear is a major factor of the diff problem.I am just scared of it locking up on me and having an accident.I dont even wanna drive the car ! Honda sucks for making this diff so weak, and if you try to warranty it...FORGET it they'll be asking so many questions on the driving condition and how high you rev the car...etc THEN why make a high reving 9k engine and advertise it !

It just sucks that we have to be looking into other makes of vehicles for a freaking differential.

Well anybody else with more diff info please feel free Thnks again guys

Hardtop guy has some new 2004 differentials for sale for $1000. Its a great deal. I bought one and am going to have it and Rick's 4.56 cryo treated before installing. Also going to put on some new high HP axles. This should carry me through until I get arround to installing my 240SX differential. I probably won't start that project until the end of this year.

Does the 240SX diff have anything close to our 4.10 ratio?

FPERRA- The axles dont worry me cause I mean I am not gonna launch the car at all.Maybe in your case its different. But how good is the 04 diff and the cryo treatment stuff ? I have heard that the cryo treat wont help if you have a lot of hp.Either way $ 1000.00 is a good price. Also if that cryo treatment is worth it how much does it run for that service.Thnks

Also does the 04 diff bolt right up to the 03 ? and one more question what are the ups and downs of changing the gears I mean wouldnt changing the gears take off from top end. I am not too sure but any ways I can learn... thnks again fperra.

I had my ring & pinion cryo-treated after my frist set exploded. It's held up just fine since then. The cost for the cryo-treating itself was about $60.
