I hope you do not have to call me for a rear because of this situation. As all have said before me change it out right away and use Mobil 1 or Amsoil Royal Purple is not my first choice or any choice I'm not a fan of the stuff.....

Trans fluid won't hurt the differential. 75w90 GL5/6 is similar to a 30w oil in viscosity and OEM Honda fluid is about 30w. GL-5 and GL-6 differential fluid should not be used in the trans because the additives used to be harmful to brass metals, but these days they use additives that are supposed to be okay on brass. GL-4 trans fluid totally compatible with differentials. Just drain and refill with the correc fluids. You can get a hand pump from autozone. You can drive it around in the mean time.

Honda MTF II is about the equivalent of a 10W engine oil (7.50 cSt at 100C), and then it shears rapidly down from there. It is also probably GL4 gear oil at best, and has nowhere near the EP additives of a SAE 90 GL5 gear oil for hypoid type gears. It should never be used in the S2000 differential. Whomever put this in your diff should lose his certificate as a Honda tech.

As already suggested get the right stuff for full confidence snd do the change yourself. If a Honda mech can make a mistake imagine the possibilities with a GM, Ford or a Jiffy lube tech. Sleep good tomorrow night and DIY.

Dont post what you dont know. I have a ring and pinion here, which went metal to metal because of Honda MTF. This was the older fluid, red cap.

I'm confident the new white cap stuff would do the same.
