Next time I would try and DIY next time around, so you know exactly what goes in and where. S2ki has DIY w/photos to help you step by step.

I wouldn't drive it at all, I can't imagine the tranny fluid has the ability to handle the shear in the rear end.

I vaguely recall that when you buy the diff fluid from Honda you have to watch to make sure you get the right stuff because there are two different blends and the S2k is the odd man out and is usually not carried at dealerships... But I am not positive on this...
Correct. Honda dealers have been known to put in the CRV fluid into the S2000, which kills their diffs.

The S2000 fluid (from Honda) is specifically for the S2000, and not just "can I get some diff fluid for my Honda."

Your mechanic is one of those arrogant ****s who think that their experience = wisdom, and that everything they've dealt with in the past applies to everything they'll ever potentially deal with.

Your average know-it-all Honda mechanic doesn't know shit about S2000's.

The S2000 is not like other Hondas, but your mechanic isn't the first guy to treat it like a Civic. Stay away from that guy.

Also, last I checked, Honda doesn't even sell diff fluid for the S - just calls for 90 weight at least. Honda mechanics were just sticking whatever they could find into S2000s and breaking them.

Honda MTF can surely kill the dif. Change it asap.

find a competent mechanic. Yours is not.

ya he may have worked on civics, accords and honda mini vans through the 80s and they would have zero related to the s2000. what an idiot, and dont ever think your car isn't "yours" at a mechanic's place, thats your baby man, i'd be like "put my car down off them lifts, or i'm burning this mofo down!"

You're speaking of the diff fluid, which yes, there's is a clutch type diff in the pilot and crv i believe and if they use the fluid made for that diff, your diff will self destruct very fast.

Make him pay for new fluid, and put it in properly.

Whenever you bring the proper fluids to the mechanic and he makes his own decision to do what he wants, stop him in his tracks and tell him to do it your way. Even if it's free... he's doing it your way.
