i think when you heel toed, you released the clutch too fast and the wrong rpm and locked up the rear ( it's actually a drift technic, called "shift lock") therefore you call it "fish tailing", should be fine

even if you did shift to second, the fact that it caught the gear and sent the tires spinning means it probably didn't rev any higher than redline because it was able to make the transition.
the biggest problem with a misshift/downshift is when you don't get into gear, and over-rev/dry rev in neutral.
from what it sounds like, you just got a little squirly, and busted a little doriftoooooo!!! lol.

For peace of mind, get a leakdown test and valve retainer inspection. Search on this site for Billman250's pictures showing "cracked retainers" due to mechanical overrev and read about the problem.

tlee1234 and hess2ktouge, I really hope that is what happened. snakeeater, that is definitely the logical thing to do. Any idea on how much something like that would cost?

I guess $150. Try contacting Billman250 by PM, he is probably one of the most qualified S2000 mechanic around. He would give you a quick accurate estimate. Easy-going, straight-shooting guy as well. Just search for his name, find any one of his posts, and hit the PM button at the bottom of one of his posts.

Since you have an AP2, you aren't likely to crack the retainers. That happens with AP1's, ask me how i know...You're more likely to bend the exhaust valves before you crack an AP2 retainer.
I should have taken pictures of my retainers when Billman swaped them out for AP2 retainers. A couple were rediculously cracked.

Don't think Billman has ever seen a cracked AP2 retainer. That's because after a bad overrev on an AP2, they either pop right away and drop a valve into the cylinder, or they don't pop at all. I imagine you will be fine.

You can rev to the redline in neutral all day long and your engine will be fine.
But downshifting into 2nd instead of 4th at too high speed will force the engine to rev _higher_ than the rev limit, which will kill it at some point, usually because the valves hit the pistons.
However, I think the OP should be fine.
