Before giving up on the car get one of the locals to ride in/drive it, it's possible that the car has some problems. Then again, most people cannot handle driving the S, especially as a daily driver, you may be one of those people. It's not a quiet, soft, plush, luxury car.

I'd also say throw it on a dyno (20-50 bucks at a local dyno day), or try to line up with someone to see how your car compares, there's plenty of low 13 second cars out there that should run real close with your car (c5 vette, ss camaro, ws6 firebird, ls2 GTO, mach 1 mustang, e46 m3 for example). It shouldn't feel "slow" although a lot of this is perspective, depending on what car you're coming from.

I'd say sell it before you dump more $ into it. Maybe the next owner will appreciate it for what it is meant to be.

The S2000 was not designed for speed and power. Its not meant to run a 1/4 mile in 10seconds. In fact, i dont think its possible with the weight of it. This car was designed not for speed, but for pure handling. with its 50/50 weight distribution, 2.0/2.2 lightweight engine, tight 6spd transmission, sport suspension and wide stance, this vehicle was designed to out handle almost anything on the road. it wasnt designed to run top end muscle and european cars. If u wanted to go fast and beat anything out there in a striaght line, sorry to say this.... you should have gone american. and as for rattles, its gonna happen. its a soft top. the only thing between you and the outside is a few layers of waterproof material. thats the beauty of it. the only way you could possibly say a supercharged S is slow, is if your doing 110+ with the top down. that will kill you for sure. TRUST me, BEEN there. To make a long story short. if u want to go fast down a highway or down a track. get something different. sell the S2000 to someone who will appreciate what the car is and the legend behind it.

About the squeaky hinges, are you sure the screws are tightened down? Mine were squeaking quite a lot until I realized the screws were loose, then it didn't squeak anymore.

I've seen S2k's run 10's on the track. The f20 is a beast...

I've heard the hardtop strikers have less tendency to rattle over the stock ones (especially old ones)

^^

was it supercharged when you bought it? if so then you made a mistake right there, buying a boosted used vehicle! sounds like it could be the previous owners fault with all the problems you are having.
