Hey guys I'd like to report that one of my Amazon bought "Denso" 673-2301 coils failed on me after a thousand miles or so... I had to swap my OEM coils with 120k miles back in after determining that cylinder 4's pack had failed (the new Amazon Denso pack that is). Shortly after, my OEM coil pack in cylinder 2 failed while doing a WOT log in 4th gear on the highway! Engine cutout at 8 grand and my rev limit is 9200 rpm on my supercharged AP1 so obviously its not the AEM Series 2's toon responsible for this. After that I limped home, did the test again, swapped out all 3 remaining OEM coils for the 3 good Amazon Denso packs and that solved the problem...but wait there's more. While going for a logging session tonight I felt the car not as fast as before and she still cutout at 8ish grand while WOT... now I reckon that since one OEM coil pack already bit the dust, the other 3 aren't far behind. Make sense? Maybe that's why I'm feeling the ill effects of the OEM coil pack that was a replacement for the Amazon Denso one in cylinder 4, but at the same time I can't be sure if it's any of the other new coils!

Now my OEM AP1 coils have done their time, they don't owe me a dime, right? I'm currently sitting with one new Amazon Denso 673-2301 coil pack in my cart at checkout about to hit place order then I thought about coming here lol...

What are the chances that one new coil pack out of 4 new packs ended up being a dud just 1000 miles in??

Denso, like anyone else is prone to some level of manufacturing defect. So...maybe it just happened.

Are the aftermarket Denso the same ones you buy at a dealer? Probably not. But very tiny maybe.

And Amazon is known for fakeys.

and youre turbo'd. So....lot of variables, bruv.

Did you buy AP1 specific coils?

Slim chance of manufacturing defect is possible. Another S2K owner had one of his OEM coils go out at 50k miles whereas my OEM's have lasted 120k!

Fakeys is what I'm worried about. Rockauto sells the same thing though so... it's a coil pack lottery out there lol.

Nah bro, AP2 coils (check the part number 673-2301 )

So I bit the Amazon bullet and bought 1 more Denso 673-2301 last night. Let's hope for the best?! This is unacceptable though. I bought all 4 new and 1 jumps ship prematurely.

P.S. Hope there's nothing else that could cause coil pack failure?? If there were an electrical fault surely other systems in the car would fail too, right? And this issue happened in two totally different cylinders so wiring can be ruled out.

What plug gap and heat range are you running? I would use a plug one step colder, and tighten the plug gap a hair. Boost generates more heat, and less consistent combustion.
