Decibel Level Measurements of Engine and Exhaust at Idle
One of the first things I did with my S2K was to measure the sound level of the engine and exhaust at idle. The reasoning for doing so is that problems seem to first show themselves as noise somewhere so I wanted a baseline for future comparison. I read that the #4 cylinder problem first showed up as noise. I suppose one could also use a stephascope to isolate a noise much like a doctor hears a noisy heart valve. I used a Radio Shack digital sound level meter. I hope this information is useful to someone.
