my car has about 10k miles (original pads) and they squeek every once in a while when it gets really cold out, especially after i first start driving the car...the noise quickly goes away after the first or second time i hit the brakes.

i see this all the time. at the dealer i work at people constantly complain of this, the fact of the matter is- it is the nature of the beast. driving habits along with a highly metallic high performance brake pad cause this, its not that your too hard on them-your not hard enough!! you have to get them hot enough at least once a day to keep the rotor surface "cleaned". mild surface rust buildup and pad material buildup are major factors, go beat the hell out of the brakes and they will be happy and quiet untill you start driving like a granny again

Emrillive, you want us to tell you that the dealer ought to replace your brakes for free under warranty. But that's just not the case. It is normal on any car for high temperature performance brake pads to squeal. The 04 compound is higher-temperature than the earlier compound, so it is more prone to squeal.
In other words, this is a normal condition. You can live with it, or you can switch brake pads to a more street-based compound. I would really look into the 00-03 brake pads next time you change brake pads. As far as I know, they fit on 04s.
[Can someone who knows for sure please verify or deny this fitment question?]

That is the most common cause of brake squeal, people being too easy with them. I've always hated this complant too....
