Default dealer claims my04 break noise is normal?

i just came back from the honda dealer for brake noise.... the breaks are squealing at only 6,000 miles.... the dealer said the noise is normal if you apply the brake lightly and the service guy gave me a long lecture about any new vechicle on his lot, he could duplicate the squealing i had a 2000 prelude and with 35,000 w/ no brake noise.... my brothers 03 tl and my parents 00 lexus all no brake noise... are they serious? has anyone had brake squealing that is normal like honda claims ? oh and heard somewhere about a spray which can get rid of theis sqeal.. any suggestions?

strange cause my 04 with 11k doesn't make any noise - the only problem is pads are considered a "wear" item therefore the dealership wont cover it under warrantee - try a different dealership

what the hell? brand new cars dont have brake squeal. There is a reason why the brakes are squealing and it needs to be fixed.

is there a spray of somekind to help reduce the squeal?

Try replacing the brake pads with 00-03 brake pads. They are a slightly lower-temperature, lower friction compound (I think). Anyway, my stock pads never sqealed. My track pads always sqeal.

As for "brand new cars dont have brake squeal", well obviously you are wrong, aren't you? And no, there is no "spray of some kind" which will stop your brakes from squealing.

are you abusive on your brakes? did you break them in properly? i assume you/they checked that the pad isn't worn correct?

WD-40 stops the noise until you crash.

If it helps, my 04 with only 2500 miles on it also has a bit of brake squeal. I haven't been concerned with it and figured that it was most likely a result of the type of OEM pad used. They dust a lot, work exceptionally well for an OEM pad (even when cold) but seem to squeal a bit. Now you have me wondering if this is normal or not. Perhaps Honda used aggressive pads prioritizing performance over noise concerns? Or maybe both our cars have fudged up brakes? : )
