Default Dead Clutch Pedal

A couple of weeks ago as I was driving suddenly I felt my clutch pedal go about halfway dead. The shift point dropped near the floor. Over the coming days it got worse until the car was nearly un drivable.

So the master cylinder must be leaking right? I take it to local mechanic with good yelp reviews. He replaces the master cylinder for $240. The car is now drive able but the clutch pedal is still mostly dead. I can use the clutch and shift fine now but the shift point is still very low and the pedal is loose for most of the travel. The mechanic says he filled it with the fluid and that it's likely because my clutch is worn which I think is bull. I double checked with him to make sure the cylinder was adjusted properly. He said it was set as it was before at the highest shift point.

Can any of you guys shed some light on this for me? How can I revive my clutch pedal?! Is it because he probably didn't bleed the line? Is my clutch actually worn? What's go on?

He didn't bleed it right most likely.

Either he didnt bleed it correctly or its your slave cylinder. Check under the car and see if its leaking around the slave. Should be a slow leak to where it just looks wet and nothing dripping

Before he replaced the master, it was leaking behind the clutch pedal itself. There was fluid coming out of there and it wouldn't hold the liquid well at all. By the next day it would be empty and the clutch was useless.

Now that he replaced it. It has just enough meat at the floor to where I can shift. After one day, it seems to be about the same. I'll check tonight to see if maybe it's lost any more fluid.

A new master cylinder will probably kill the slave. It happened to me a few years ago in my Miata. You should probably replace the slave too.

95% of S2000 clutch masters leak due to inadequate fluid replacement. Yours was one of them, it did not need a new master. All you needed was fluid and a bleed.

You have a poor pedal now because the new master was not bleed properly, or is misadjusted.

Slave is fine.

Guaranteed.

I should have came here first man. Did I really just burn $230?

When we refilled the fluid before replacing the master, it leaked immediately and was bone dry by the next day without being driven.

Where did the brake fluid leak? Onto the floor of the garage or the car?

It leaked behind the clutch pedal. I've not been able to see if it leaked under the car.

So, the fluid is in the car, at the foot of the driver side?
