Dashboard Clunking Noise
Hey all,
My 2006 S2k makes a clunking noise when going over bumps. I live in downtown Toronto, and our roads are horrible. We have street car tracks, poorly repaired potholes, etc. Over sharp bumps, I hear a very audible clunking noise coming from the middle-right side of the dashboard (at least that's where I think it's coming from). The tone of the clunk sounds almost like plastic on glass, or plastic on plastic. It seems that the clunking occurs more often when the rear tires hit a bump. I always try to avoid road imperfections whenever it is safe to do so. When I can't, I try to go as slow as possible, so it's not like I'm crashing over bumps really fast (15-20 mph, max). Anyone have a similar experience? I would love to know if there is a fix for this!
Cheers!

my ap1 does this, but thats when shifting gears,
and i know for a fact ap1's make clunking sounds and its normal,
may be the same for the ap2's
but when was the last time you re greased your suspension?

It happens sometimes when I shift from 1st-2nd, but very rarely does it happen. Never greased the suspension. The car has approximately 30,000 KM on it (around 20,000 miles).

I'm thinking it could be the forward edge of the dashboard making contact with the windshield... Or it could be a million other things lol. I'm hoping someone has a fix for this one!

Have the same exact thing on my 06. It's very inconsistent though. I do think it's the dash making contact with the windshield though. While going over bumps, I've pressed down on that area of the dash and the sound will go away for a moment.

Exactly, it's very inconsistent; some bumps it clunks, other bumps not so much! I wonder if there is a way to put something in between the dash vents and windshield. I'm contemplating taking off the dash to take a look, but it's a helluva lota work!
