Is there a way to use the lid and still get "the sound" of a no lid. What makes it louder? The chambers not being seperated?

I wonder if the wall in the airbox is cut out and lid still on, the sound might appear.

Removing it only gains a bit sound. You can gain more sound by blocking the channel between the main chaimber and resonator chamber.
The most commonly used recipe seems to be:
- remove the l-shaped funnel / elbow that's attached to the lid
- cut down the vertical barrier in the main chamber to an inch or so to keep some water-resistance but improve airflow.
- block the hole between the main chaimber and resonator chamber with something hard (something soft will let the soundwaves through).
This gives you an improvement in sound (some say with about 30% of lid-off volume), still some water-protection, an increased airflow, and a closed lid and thus heat-soak protection. All for free :-)

AH NICE, ILL LOOK INTO THAT MORE!
I was thinking I might just take that wall out if its just for water blockage
I dont drive the S in the rain so I think ill be ok there. The 94 civic is for the rain.
So the hole between the main chaimber and resonator chamber quites it all down then huh? My teg was like this. You see about 2 lbs of intake when looking at the motor BUT theres another 10lbs worth under it and in the pass fender. WEIRD

6.8loss to the wheels! DAMN!
Wondering...what was the temp when the dyno was done
The hottest it gets here in Buffalo NY is like 90 and the rest months are 70...then drops down to -5's (though the S is off)
Im sure the air temp could hurt it even more/even less
