Default Dad's S2000 w/ Comptech blower doesn't like to rev

I'm posting this to try and find out whats going on with my dad's s2k. Originally when I was driving it to work on tuesday it was having a very hard time idling and dying at every stop light. When I would start it up it was driveable but not very much since it was backfiring very badly and anything over 1/4 throttle felt the same. It was very reluctant to rev. Anyways, fast forward a few hours to lunch time when I go out to see if the car is any better and it wants to idle now but it has a check engine light. I notice that the battery indicator is clear which means replace it so I go and get a new battery from the advance auto parts right next to where I work. I put that in and it drives great on the way home. So...today I'm driving around looking for some place to eat and on my way back from getting some food it starts doing the same thing. It idles now but very very low, like 1-3 bars on the tach (not sure how many rpm a bar equals). At least it can hold an idle now but it still is missing badly and won't rev over 4500 rpm. It feels as though its not running on all cylinders. I could floor the gas pedal and it would still rev as slowly as if I were doing 1/4 throttle or less. PLEASE HELP!!

not sure if this is the problem, but do a search on "MAP sensor" or "MAP whack" its definitely an easy try though.....

Buying a new battery was probably unnecessary. My battery indicator has been clear for over a year, but I had it checked and it's fine. That little eye isn't the most reliable indicator of a battery's health.

Sounds like an exhaust restriction, but probably not since most of these cars have so few miles on them. Do these things run rich enough with SC to clog a cat quickly? How many miles? How many with the SC? Still original CAT?

Backfires indicate super rich.

its got a little over 31,000 miles and I assume its got the original cats. What I don't understand about the problem is that today it was running fine yesterday and didn't happen until after about half an hour of driving earlier today.

My JRSC'd prelude used to do this. It was a combination of a clogged cat and a crappy MAP sensor.

Run the codes on the car and see what it comes back with.

My wrangler did that when the cat went bad. At night is it glowing red? can you revthrough it in neutral? You might want to change the plugs too... I'm sure thy're fouled up by now.
