Potentially expensive lesson. But at least I know how to do a top end on this car now.
I could tell some stories.

If its me, I'm feeling relieved with those numbers. I think you are going to be fine. I'm no expert though. Wait for others to chime in.

Current test: 195, 190, 210, 210

Cylinder #3 was the one with the damage so I feel good that it didn't go down. I assume there is some variation due to the change in equipment but overall I'm satisfied since there wasn't a step change.

Should I be concerned over the relative differences in the pressures where they are and have been?
Numbers are fine. The variation is what to look for. Did you happen to also do a wet test? That's what I'd also be interested in for the gouged cylinder.... at least for curiosity's sake.

Gouged cylinder was #3, you'd never see it affect compression that low in the cylinder for obvious reasons, the main one being compression happens at TDC not middle dead center.

In my experience, I don't trust anything with these as "obvious" when I see something unusual. I clearly stated that it was for "curiosity's sake". I can't think of a time where I'll ever see this type of cylinder wall damage again, nor do I ever think we'll have a chance to ask this owner to do a simple test before there are many miles on the fix (so-to-speak). Do I really think that it'll affect compression? Probably not. Do I want to see a wet test now in order to compare it with a future wet test that I think OP might need? You betcha!

It's all about eliminating variables in a diagnosis.... even if that diagnosis isn't needed yet, and that variable is totally off the wall.
