Default Cruise control switch

I'm about to install an aftermarket steering wheel and I've been searching all over the place (Search is down too...how convenient!) and I'm wanting to keep cruise control.

My question is, is the cruise control switch essentially a toggle switch and that's why there are 3 wires? Is it simply just completing a circuit depending on the button you press?

I'm thinking of either finding a way to mount the stock buttons on the aftermarket wheel or using the volume switch to act as the two buttons.

Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.
