Creak from rear suspension

In my case, I fixed the creaking by doing what Stratocaster suggested. I loosened the upper a-arm bolts and the shock bolts, loaded the suspension, then re-torqued everything. Not a peep from them since.

I'm not getting a creak really but more of a dull clunk/bang and sounds like rear, drivers side.
It started when the car had about 105k on it. It was mild at first and then got louder and happens mostly when going slower over bumpy roads or railroad tracks, sometimes when backing up or moving forward. I really don't think it's the u-joint or even hub nut issue, as I've had that noise for about 50k and have actually gotten used to it now.
I originally thought it was a broken shock since that's exactly what it reminded me of, so I replaced the shocks and at first and since the ride was firmer again, it seemed to go away but alas it was still there, just not as loud or obvious.
Would this be the upper a-arm problem, or other loose suspension connections?
