Default crappy. throttle response.

ok. so im driving my car around today and noticing really crappy throttle response. i mean seriously. it feels like the car weighs 1000000lbs. just think of gentle daily driving, i accelerate up to 4000-4500RPM (usually where i shift) and it feels like a slug.

now in 5500RPM on up (especially in VTEC) it feels fine. i really never noticed the transition so much as i did before. heres some of the work i have had on the car in the past few months.

1 1/2 month ago - rebuilt top end, new valves, retainters, guides, valve locks, head gasket, etc.

week after - valves re-adjusted for idle and bogging problem.

1 1/2 month ago - new spark plugs (recall)

2 months ago - new FPR gasket

today - new cat installed (honda warranty, from engine misfire)

oil changed recently about 500 miles. castrol high mileage.

MAP whack done enuff.

CELs in the past months.

-multiple misfires (fixed, new head)
-misfires 2, 3 (fixed, new head)
-catalyst efficiency below threshold (fixed, new cat)

car has 76xxx miles. used to run great. but ever since the engine misfire and rebuild hasnt been the same. and ive noticed the crappy feeling since the rebuild was done.

im bone stock, just suspension, and an untuned vafc which i just right now to monitor. im just curious, where do i start from here? throttle cable is nice and firm, i always use 91 gas, and im clueless?

my roommates 91 accord with 198xxx miles has better throttle response. i dont know, the car feels really, and i mean like a TANK sluggish up to VTEC.

and i dont know where to go from here.

and another thing. the mechanic @ honda who put my cat on today said i was running rich cause of my VAFC. i said thats impossible cause 1)its not tuned, bought it new and just for display and 2)VAFC only lean out, and cant add fuel.

i told him it was probably from the misfire, cause i remember when i was misfire i had a flashing CEL a few times. probably is what damaged the cat.

yea ive been meaning to get a new one, with the whole TSB in effect. i probably will and see what happens.

its weird, a few nights ago while i was driving home, i took it pretty hard and it felt really really good. i noticed the as i climbed to 9000, the very last hundred RPM i heard like a faint ringing sound.

now i remember hearing this sound when i was boosted. sounds like if you put a wedding ring on a screwdriver and spin and jingle it around. but it is very faint. and its probably only from 8500-8999 rpm.

hmm today driving, took it to 9K, and didnt hear the ringing, but did feel the lack of power.

hmm how the map sensor should do the trick. sorry for yapping, just personal observations.
