I was thinking of going the Toda route but no way after reading this thread. Looks like I will be going the Mugen or Amuse way.

I think that this thread shouldn't discourage you from buying the Toda header, assuming you are buying it purely for the performance aspect. As everyone has stated, the bracket isn't really intended to do much as far as "support" goes. I think they just put it on there because the stock header had one.
I read this thread long before I purchased my Toda header... but to me, it really didn't seem like that big of a deal. The only thing that bothered me was that Toda wasn't more helpful when the problem was reported. That's unfortunate. If you get the Amuse, be sure you let us know what kind of numbers you get with it. I don't think anyone has dyno'd with an Amuse header.

Yeah, I'll be sure to dyno after the install.

I pulled 200 whp with ~2000 or so miles. My car has 8900 miles on it now and it feels really strong...

I also have an AEM V2 intake. Sucks if I don't get *any* gains

Bringing this thread back from the dead
I had this braked recently failed on me too.
But instead a Toda, I have a Mugen header which did not took any damage - which I'm glad . The bracket cracked during a hard left corner and was very audible for a moment.

Now I'm not sure what caused it but I blame it on
two things.
I'm running aftermarket engine mounts (Vibra Technics) which are awesome by the way. And since they don't use top mounts (heat shield) like the OEM mounts they lower the engine for about 5mm maybe a lil' bit more which must have caused additional stress on the bracket although I can't remember having problems installing the bracket.
Anyway, this and the bigger thermal expansion of the Mugen header (similar the Toda) is probably the reason it failed.

Going to replace it and mount it with less tension (maybe using additional washers) as possible.

Just run without the bracket, it's not needed and if you make one that's stronger you just risk getting the header cracked open.

I've run a heat tape wrapped OEM header without that bracket for at least 80 full track days and 30 of those days with solid motor mounts and nothing has happened.
