Cooling Fan won't come on - wrong switch?
Car was running hot so I changed the thermostat, old one opened half way at full temp in water. Replaced coolant with genuine t2 and bled properly, heat still creeps forever at lights but stays reasonable while cruising. Will go down with AC or heat on, both fans come on with AC so relays are good. Went ahead and got another fan switch but it still won't come on, engine got to 210f. I tripped the connector and it turned right on, so thankfully harness is okay.
I guess the most likely scenario is that the sensor screws into a cooler area of the radiator and needs to trip at a lower temp. Unfortunately this "ValuCraft" brand sensor doesn't list the closing temperature on the autozone website. Last owner may have bought the wrong sensor as well. I know he changed it since there was gasket maker squished out of the sides. Do I need an oem brand sensor or could it be something else?
2003 white mostly stock 400k on chassis, 100k on engine.
