Default Convertible Top Patching

Hey guys, I recently noticed a small tear (1/2 - 3/4") in the convertible top, on the passenger side...between the front support bar and the latches/windshield. Aside from that, I have also noticed more wear spots that are thinning, both on that side and the drivers side. I know that Honda sells patches, but I'm wondering how good it will be. Using some shoe goo and the Honda patch material, how will it prevent future wear where the tear is, and will it prevent the thin spots from tearing? Will it seal water out during the winter? I could replace the soft top or get a hard top, but if the patching works ok I'll just do that. Thanks in advance.

Nothing works great. What i did was put patches on the inside in the spots that the top wears. Then filled the outside with crazy glue. This has worked the best so far

I bought some patch material from a fabric store and glued it up to the rip from the inside. Mine holds for a few months before it gets crappy. The only correct solution to soft top repairs is to get a new one (or so I was told by a gentleman in the automotve upholstering business for 20+ years)

I went to Rayco in St. Pete Florida to get a new top put on, it was half the price of factory. I spent about 1100 bucks and I'm happy with it, and it's canvas as opposed to the pinpoint vinyl from the factory, comes with a five year warranty.

If you are interested PM me and I'll give you the number.

Also, A friend of mine runs an upholstery supply shop and can get the top and have it installed for you in the Orlando area. If you are not from central florida he can probably send it to you, and you are on your own finding an installer.

Let me know if I can be of any assistance.
