are hardtop strikers a fix simply because they are new and not worn, or are they actually lower/shorter than the usual strikers and so pull the top tighter? anyway, they're less than $50 thru hardtop guy. the washer idea occured to me before it was suggested, so i think i may try that, and if that is a no go then i'll buy some new strikers. thanks everyone.

there is a tsb for our '01's that say if you have excess wind noise, try hard top strikers because (iirc) they hold the top better than regular strikers.

Make sure that when the top closes the little "bump" on the front of the latch is going into the "dimpled" area on the portruding end of the striker. When I close my top the little "bumps" always rest on top of the strikers....i can still latch the top but there is a gap so I have to make sure to pull the top down and back a bit to get the "bump" into the "dimple" then i have an air/water tight seal!
