i know for a fact that my elastic straps serve almost no purpose at this stage in their lives, ill see if some replacements will help.

Thanks for all the info guys. To silicone the rubber, what's the easiest way? Seems like silicone spray would be difficult to control.

"Rubber safe" Silicone spray should be your last choice if you can't get the other stuff. You don't spray it on the seals. You spray it onto a cloth and wipe the cloth over the seals.

The "other stuff" being Honda's "Shin-Etsu" grease. This is quite expensive and if you are handier to a GM dealer, get some Silicone Emulsion. It comes with it's own "shoe polish" type applicator.

Shin-Etsu on the rubber. A tube will last a few years. Check the top for wear holes
